About Us: We’re the Barker family – Brent, Vanessa and Chloe at home and Claire, Colter and Sam leading their adult lives. We live in Whitinsville, after commuting from Hopkinton for many years. Chloe is in 8th grade and is very active in the school community. Claire and Sam graduated from WCS in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Claire then graduated from Cedarville University with a degree in Athletic Training. She met her husband, Colter, there and they both are athletic trainers at high schools in Texas. Sam joined the United States Air Force and served for five years. He is in nursing school in Montana. They both have said they were well prepared for life after WCS.

Sports, Extracurriculars, Clubs: Among our three WCS attendees, they’ve been involved in many extra-curricular offerings of the school – drama, tennis, soccer, track, cross country, volleyball, robotics, honor society, and open house and new student guides. Each has been a place to learn life lessons and build deeper friendships with others in these shared experiences.
Why did your family choose WCS? We chose, and have stayed with WCS, because it is a place of strong academics and spiritual formation as the kids learn to be prepared for a life of Christ-like service. Dedicated and committed teachers, staff and coaches model Christ-like behavior and guide students to live the same. Yes, some of the same challenges in growing and learning present themselves here as in the public school arena, but those issues are handled with God’s grace, mercy and love. Students are shepherded by those who love the Lord and are undergirded with prayer by their teachers, staff and parents.
A note to prospective families: While we wouldn’t change a thing, we recognize growth comes from change and WCS leadership isn’t afraid to try new things by expanding offerings and challenging old ways. It is a place that keeps up with our fast changing world to prepare students for life after graduation, but maintains its focus on our Christian foundation. It has been a blessing to our family.
